An unexpected job opportunity turned into a blessing and stronger faith for Jordanian student
When she was 15 years old, Ruba’s* father started taking courses at the Program for Theological Education by Extension (PTEE) in Jordan. As she helped him study, Ruba gained interest in what he was learning and started attending classes herself. In addition, she earned a college degree in Sociology but was having trouble finding jobs in local schools and organizations. She asked the Lord to provide a way for her and decided to stop by a private school near her house. Although they did not have an opening for a school counselor, they needed a children’s Christian Education teacher. Ruba accepted the job, which she calls a blessing from the Lord, and says her PTEE courses “gave me a better understanding of Christianity and Christian theology. When the kids at school start asking me about their beliefs and church history, I feel comfortable now and can answer their questions.”
Ruba says she has grown deeper and stronger in her faith because of what she has learned through her PTEE courses. She wants to continue studying at PTEE while tutoring as well, so that she can share her lessons with other women and her local church members. “I encourage everyone who wants to serve the Lord better to learn and take courses with PTEE.”
Ruba is thankful and says she will continue to ask the Lord for “an abundant blessing and an overflow to people like you who are willing to give back freely to the Lord's ministry….You will be able to help out many who are in the same situation in this part of the world to know and understand the Lord's mercy. I pray that PTEE will continue to meet the needs of people of the Arab world. I will ask the Lord Jesus that He ‘may give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.’”
Ruba and her husband planted a church a few years ago outside of Amman, Jordan, where they live with their three daughters. Ruba is also active in the children’s ministry at her church.
