Brazil missions ministry graduates serving in 30 countries

EMCThe Evangelical Missions Center (EMC) in Viçosa, Brazil, is an interdenominational mission training institute focused on preparing students for intercultural ministry and providing church leaders with a greater vision for missionary service. The center of 430 graduates seeks to offer students with a solid theological and missiological formation with an emphasis on contextual realities at a national and cross-cultural level.

In order to develop a local and global awareness, EMC students are actively involved in local ministries and a cross-cultural placement during their studies. The local community benefits from EMC’s involvement with youth at risk, church planting projects, non-governmental organizations and the health sector.

EMC classroomThe unique challenges presented by growing cities like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro combined with the vast rural expanse of inland Brazil require diverse ministry training opportunities for Brazilian Christians. EMC says the Protestant churches in Brazil are growing in their missionary vision and commitment; therefore, there is a growing need for leaders to be trained.

Masters in Missiology graduate Gustavo Chavez writes, “I do not have words to thank God for the privilege of having studied at EMC. This school has been used by God to give me useful tools for my ministry on the mission field, tools to be used inside and outside the church…I learned to see history, the world and cultures from the perspective of God, and to be an instrument of blessing and light to those who live in darkness.”
