Non-Christians, students and needy children impacted through Ukrainian partner initiatives
The Lord has been using Donetsk Christian University (DCU) in Ukraine to influence and impact their community for Christ through a variety of initiatives.
Ten years ago, DCU founded Gloria Christian Grade School, the first Christian grade school started in the Donetsk region, through the work of several local pastors and leaders of Christian organizations. Today, the school has 100 students in grades one through nine. “The school offers a program integrated with Biblical truth that affects not just the students but also many of their non-Christian parents,” the university says. Overall, about 50% of the children are from non-Christian homes, and Gloria is able to impact a wide variety of people throughout society. Gloria is registered as a private school, officially licensed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Education, and is a member of the International Association of Christian Schools and the Ukrainian Union of Christian Schools.
In addition, DCU held its annual “Your Perspective” summer camp for youth, drawing non-Christian students from public schools that have been involved in DCU’s teaching of Christian ethics. The university says, “This is an important method of outreach to young people in which several DCU staff and students participate.”
DCU also hosted the “Eastern European Summit for Children at Risk,” focusing on orphan ministry and promoting both personal adoption and church ministry to needy children. DCU hosted the third annual “Remember All the Way” conference, which concentrated this year on the beginning of the Evangelical Christian Baptist Movement in the early 20th century. “Both of these conferences attracted a variety of Christians and people in ministry to learn about these important topics.”
