Over 600 graduates trained at Ethiopian partner school

Since 1983, Evangelical Theological College (ETC) has trained over 600 graduates from every Ethiopian evangelical denomination, many of whom serve in key church leadership positions. Other graduates serve at local Bible schools previously run by people with little or no theological training.
Students are required to be involved in ministry within a local church allowing them to apply their training to real-life situations. Practical ministry assignments show ETC if its curriculum is relevant for the Church and society.

Poverty and HIV/AIDS continue to plague Ethiopia. Many churches request graduates be trained in community development, thus ETC added this as a new ministry major with plans to develop a comprehensive training institute as well. Future plans also include opening an English language institute for church leaders. The interdenominational school says being targeted by other religions for significant growth is a challenge as well.
ETC works closely with other area schools to provide quality leadership training. ETC and OC partner Mekane Yesus Theological Seminary (MYTS) jointly started OC partner Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology (EGST).
Graduate Zelalem Abebe says, “Our ministry is very useful in…developing leaders both for the Church and nation as a whole…I have been well-equipped by my training. Now I am providing training on subjects…I learned about at ETC. I am really grateful to ETC for enabling me to minister.”
