Salvation Army program in Bangladesh incorporates seminary materials into training
Since graduating from the College of Christian Theology Bangladesh (CCTB), Captain Gabriel Dewri has served as a Training Officer for the Salvation Army Officer’s Training College in Savar, Bangladesh. The Salvation Army in Bangladesh relies heavily on CCTB’s Theological Education by Extension (TEE) courses for its foundational teaching, Captain Dewri says. He has studied many of the courses personally and considers them excellent preparation for ministry. “The integration of CCTB’s materials into the Salvation Army training program is an excellent model of how Christian organizations can cooperate in serving God and the Church.”
As a Training Officer, Captain Dewri ensures the college’s field programs take place smoothly for the cadets, including Sunday worship services, Student’s Campaign, prayer meetings and other meetings. He also teaches a TEE course and helps the cadets develop their preaching, counseling and outreach skills.
Recently, Captain Dewri led a group of students and cadets as they shared the Gospel with hundreds of unreached people in North Bengal through preaching, drama, counseling and passing out Scripture verses. “Sharing the Word with unreached people is one of the commitments I made while at CCTB, and it is great to be able to actually do it...I thoroughly enjoy working with my students and cadets in the field.”
