After graduating from the
New Theological College (NTC), India, Rev. Lephen Kumar began serving as a teacher at Mount Carmel Christian Academy, a high school run by the same parent body that runs NTC, in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. In 2007, he became the school principal and got involved in the education ministry. He says the school’s ministry has several dimensions, the most important being to shape the future leaders of India. “The school stands for Christian moral values and ethics that are core to its teaching endeavor. The life and teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ have always remained the most inspiring source for such a noble task. NTC has been instrumental in imparting this kind of vision and commitment in my life and has always challenged me to move further in this godly pursuit.”
The motto of both the high school and NTC is “teaching everyone in all wisdom,” which Rev. Kumar says has enabled them to dispel the “darkness of ignorance” within the students and the surrounding communities. As a result of reaching out to the community, “several lives [have been] transformed, and many marginalized and underprivileged [people have been] helped to come out from their subhuman living conditions.”
Rev. Kumar has also been involved with the Christian Evangelistic Assemblies since 2004, which is the church planting wing of NTC. He works as an area leader and an ordained minister of the church.
He says his training and subsequent degrees from NTC have “enabled me to sharpen my skills and abilities for Christian ministry.” As he continues to serve the Lord, he says his sincere prayer is “that more and more men and women [will] be trained at NTC and may become a channel of blessing for the people of this nation of India.”
Rev. Kumar earned his Bachelor of Theology degree in 1999 and his Bachelor of Divinity degree in 2004, both from NTC.
