Village ministry leads to five new congregations and nearly 100 new believers
After graduating from seminary in 2005, Pastor Robert Jeyakumar began leading an outreach ministry in India among the Malto tribe in the Damini field where there are more than 50 non-Christian villages. By the grace of God, Pastor Jeyakumar and his workers were able to reach more than 20 villages and have started five new congregations in the field. Despite opposition from village leaders who do not allow villagers to attend meetings, the Malto people are very eager to hear the Gospel, and 96 new believers have been baptized, he says.
Pastor Jeyakumar describes the Malto believers as very strong in their faith. Through their prayers, two women who died in separate incidents were brought back to life. Along with church elders being trained, new believers are being trained by the pastor and his team to become leaders in their own churches and villages. Pastor Jeyakumar is a graduate of Madras Theological Seminary and College (MTSC), India.
