Curriculum updated to reach more in the Philippines
Asian Theological Seminary (ATS) in the Philippines began over 30 years ago, and today, it is the largest graduate-level, interdenominational seminary in Southeast Asia. ATS exists to provide quality theological education to prepare leaders for the Church in Asia. ATS’ 1500+ graduates are serving as deans, presidents, professors, missionaries and ministry and organizational leaders.
Recognizing the crucial need for lay ministry, ATS is training Christians for ministry in all facets of society, particularly in the workplace and community. In addition, ATS and OC partner Asia Graduate School of Theology (AGST) offer three doctoral programs and a Master of Theology degree.
ATS has expanded their Center of Continuing Studies to serve the wider Christian public, currently implementing a pastoral training program and beginning an innovative one-year certificate program. ATS will be holding a multi-day Missionfest to highlight particular mission needs among other religious groups. The Counseling and Urban Ministries Programs have been expanded, and in order to engage its students in more local concerns, ATS started a new MA in Transformational Urban Leadership that equips frontline urban practitioners to initiate church planting movements among the urban poor.
Master of Divinity student Israel Ian Hibionada, says, “The curriculum of Christian Education at ATS prepares me to be a better youth minister in the church and school...I want to help the young people of this generation and introduce them to Christ…My training at ATS has also helped me develop more administrative skills and interpersonal relationships in the church.”
ATS holds annual Theological Forums to highlight regional and global issues. Click here for more on this year’s forum.
