Strong emphasis on graduate level and lay leadership training at new OC partner

Founded in 1952, Singapore Bible College (SBC) is a new OC partner offering theology and church music education in Chinese and English. The interdenominational college has placed a strong emphasis on their graduate level training and missions and was one of the first schools to be accredited by the Asia Theological Association in the 1970s.

Total student enrollment stands at over 500, representing 25 countries and 22 denominations. More than 2,000 alumni serve in 40 countries as pastors, missionaries, church planters, theological educators, counselors and workers among orphans, drug addicts and prisoners.

Through their evening school courses, SBC trains leadership at the grass roots level in areas such as Bible, theology, practical ministry skills and church music. Regular seminars and conferences are held for pastors and lay leaders, and the college shares faculty who teach intensive courses in strategic areas like China, Jordan, Amsterdam, Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Korea.

Rev. Dr. Caleb Chian Siong Peng is an excellent example of how well SBC equips students for ministry. Rev. Dr. Peng, a Bachelor of Theology and Doctor of Ministry graduate, has pastored a church for 25 years and watched it grow from one church to 13 churches, out of which over 30 percent of its members are involved in global missions. The church also serves the community by building schools and a youth activities center.
