Indonesian seminary has significant ministry to world’s largest unreached
people group

Founded in 1966, Tiranus Bible College (TBCI) in Bandung is one of the oldest interdenominational evangelical schools in the country and began only a year after the attempted Communist takeover of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia is home to diverse cultures and ethnic groups. The seminary’s 589 graduates are using their training and experiences to minister to all people in this region. More than 45 schools in Indonesia have TBCI graduates as teachers, while other graduates are pastors, missionaries and counselors.

TBCI students are challenged to develop theological knowledge and build skills in ministering to the Body of Christ within the Indonesian context. Evangelism is one of TBCI’s strong points as all students are required to take courses in evangelism, regardless of their major.

In order to reach majority religion followers in the secular workforce, TBCI opened a satellite school called Mitra Jamaah (Partner of Congregation), a non-degree program to equip Sundanese lay believers from low education and economic backgrounds in evangelism, discipleship and church planting. The Sundanese is the largest unreached people group in the world, and through Mitra Jamaah, multiple commitments to Christ have been made, almost 20 small groups formed and 9 house churches planted.
