ETSP responds to contextual realities of Czech Republic Church

For the past 17 years, the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Prague (ETSP) has been serving the Czech Republic. With over 150 graduates, the interdenominational seminary prepares pastors, missionaries and seminary teachers as well as Christian counselors and social workers.

ETSP stays on the cutting edge of global social issues such as sexual abuse, family breakdown and drug addiction through their partnership with the Protestant Theological Faculty at Charles University; the two institutions have established a social work/counseling program. ETSP has also responded to the contextual realities of the Czech Republic Church by preparing a major analysis of the real needs of churches and Christian workers in education.

Throughout the year, the seminary’s staff, faculty and students spread out across the nation to preach in churches, tell the school’s story and take a donation on “ETSP Sunday.” They also express gratitude for the support they receive from OC. “I would like to express my high appreciation for all the blessings ETSP and I personally have received during the many years of close fellowship and cooperation with OC,” says former ETSP President Karel Taschner. “Without OC’s substantial help, we could not advance so rapidly in our strategic position of developing new leadership for Czech churches. May God bless OC.”

One creative graduate example is ETSP professor David Novák. Using extreme sports, he has been ministering to young people for 13 years and has reached hundreds of unbelievers for Christ. He has personally mentored a number of Christian leaders, and his annual youth conferences draw over 2,000 young adults. David’s visionary qualities have impacted the Church significantly.
