Ukrainian partner ministers to Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking world
Founded in 1994, Zaporozhye Bible College and Seminary (ZBCS) in Ukraine seeks “to train Christian workers to place and maintain a witnessing fellowship within reach of every person within the Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking world.” Curriculum has been developed to serve local churches and societal needs. Nearly 650 graduates are serving throughout Ukraine and in many parts of the Russian-speaking world, including Armenia, Estonia, Poland, Serbia, Siberia, Russia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Ninety new churches in the region are led mostly by ZBCS graduates; Sunday school teachers and youth leaders are also being trained by alumni; and the school has strong commitments to missions and practical ministries.
ZBCS cooperates with other Bible institutes and church-based training schools by supplying teachers and assistance. The school also cooperates nationally with OC’s four other Ukrainian partners [DCU, KCU, OTS and UETS] to sponsor an annual theological forum that brings together presidents, staff, students, ministers and members of evangelical churches.
The school has also started a new campus construction project. The current campus does not have enough space to meet educational objectives and is in poor shape. Click here to read about the recent Groundbreaking ceremony.
Faculty scholar Andrey Konovalchuk is a full-time Bible teacher at ZBCS while he continues his doctoral research by extension through OC partner International Baptist Theological Seminary (IBTS) in Prague, Czech Republic. He also serves as Education Pastor at the largest church in Zaporozhye. “I am able to apply my research to my daily ministry and teaching,” Andrey says. “As a Bible teacher, I get more material to train ZBCS students to be effective leaders in the modern world, and as a pastor in education, I have more material to train Christians in my church to serve the Lord in their fields of ministry.”
