Argentinean school continually redesigns its programs to address current societal needs
The Buenos Aires Bible Institute (IBBA) in Argentina is a long-time Latin American partner of OC. The interdenominational institute’s student body represents over 30 denominations. Besides the main campus, IBBA has many extension centers, using local church buildings in different parts of the country to provide training where the students are serving in ministry. The institute hopes to open four more centers in large Argentinean cities. IBBA also offers postgraduate theological education courses by extension in Montreal with the possibility to extend into Toronto.
Corruption in Argentina is growing at a fast rate, affecting the economy, politics, education, families and spiritual and moral values. While the evangelical Church is growing, there are thousands of churches led by people with no theological training. The institute offers online courses and continually redesigns its programs in order to train strong leaders who can address the current needs of society.
Understanding that the ecclesiastical ministries in Latin America are becoming more bi-occupational due to financial reasons, IBBA also has a program for professionals who work part time in ministry.
Master of Ministry student Jose Luis Remotti coordinates regional-level education as the Director of the Ministerial Bible Institute in the Chaco province of Argentina. “After finishing my degree, I will have the tools to use in different areas of my church,” Jose says. “The world is changing rapidly, and if we are not prepared, we won’t be able to give coherent answers to the many issues confronting the people today.”
