Jordan seminary plays significant role in the Middle East
Started in 1991, Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary (JETS) is the only theological institution of higher learning in Jordan and serves as a regional school in the Middle East for those wanting to study at the Master’s level or higher. The seminary is well-known, respected and continues to gain esteem for its strong curriculum, quality faculty and high standards.
The most pressing issue facing the Middle East evangelical Church is the absence of leadership. JETS plays a significant role by using resources from the East and West to equip nationals reaching this part of the world for Christ. The seminary works cooperatively with other schools to teach church and Bible school leaders at annual conferences and also holds quarterly seminars on major topics of interest for church leaders and regional pastors. In addition, JETS has a faculty exchange program with OC partners Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo (ETSC) and Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) in Lebanon.
Through practical ministries, JETS students are helping the community and local Church, while JETS’ 130 graduates serve as pastors, teachers and leaders in churches and parachurches in Jordan and 13 other countries.
One Master of Divinity student and his wife recently started an outreach in an area with few Christian families. Their ministry includes providing food and clothing to poor families with hopes to start a Bible study. The student says his JETS’ courses "have taught him more about doctrine which will help him in his teachings to believers," including better-prepared sermons and guiding people using biblical solutions in their lives.
